#fightforlove

All of us can play an active role in helping make life better for the LGBTQ+ community.

Film has the power to shape understanding and foster empathy for the lives and experiences of others. This is at the heart of our efforts to bring Sergey’s story to life. But telling his story is not enough, we want to leverage the attention Firebird receives to focus on the issues of hatred and discrimination still faced by the LGBTQ+ community and ask for your support!

Partnering with All Out and other LGBTQ+ non-profits around the world allows us to amplify their work wherever Firebird is shown. Our partners fight daily for the lives and dignity of LGBTQ+ people, both far away and in our own backyards. We urge you to learn more about the work of our partners and consider contributing directly to their efforts.

"We live at a time when basic human rights, equality and freedom are once again under attack around the world. Same sex families are still illegal or discriminated against in many countries, including modern day Russia. I trust that telling Sergey's true story helps people to understand others who are different from them, to realise that love is love, or as Sergey says: 'my love was no less than your love.'"

All Out is a global movement for love and equality. They're mobilizing thousands of people to build a world where no person will have to sacrifice their family or freedom, safety or dignity, because of who they are or who they love.

As Firebird's global partner, we are working together to continue to highlight and provide direct support to movements fighting for our community around the world.

International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia

Firebird Global Screening Event May 17, 2022

Join us and pay-it-forward!

For every ticket sold to our IDAHTB screenings, we will work with All Out to provide a screening opportunity for members of our community in Ukraine, Eastern Europe, and Russia.

The event

Firebird and All Out are working in collaboration to create special one-night screening events around the world to celebrate the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia. The IDAHTB was created in 2004 to draw attention to the violence and discrimination experienced by the LGBTQIA+ community. The Day represents a major global annual landmark to draw the attention of decision makers, the media, the public, corporations, opinion leaders, local authorities, etc. to the alarming situation faced by people with diverse sexual orientations, gender identities or expressions, and sex characteristics.

Our Call-to-Action

Firebird is a story about the fight for love - even under the most oppressive conditions. Through our partners, All Out this event becomes a powerful call-to-action to support LGBTQIA+ communities under threat around the world, in particular the Ukraine, Eastern Europe, and Russia.
